Pelèr is the wind that comes down the valleys on winter mornings and crosses Lake Garda. It does not blow hard: it is insistent, long, always punctual. Anyone who lives here knows it with their eyes shut.
From that wind came five coats, numbered N° I to N° V. Each exists once only, in the size given on its card: Raffaella chooses the cloth, Betty cuts and sews, and once a piece is sold it does not come back.

N° I / V
Pelèr N° I
The first of the series — the one in which we decided what the other four would be. A grey that shifts with the light off the lake, a standing collar ten centimetres high closed with a single button, and inside a lining that changes the colour of the coat the moment it opens.
How the N° I is made
Leaves laid on by hand, the lining sewn stitch by stitch, the buttonholes embroidered one by one.

Pelèr N° II
Seven-eighths in camel, square collar, buttonholes embroidered by hand. The lining is heavy silk dyed with logwood and botanically printed with wild vine: the cuffs turn back and let it show. Camel is the hardest colour to dye and the easiest to wear.

Pelèr N° III
Midnight blue, standing collar ten centimetres high, buttonholes embroidered by hand. It fastens with snaps and decorative 1950s buttons, bought in a boxful at a market: there were eight, and eight is exactly what we needed. Lining in triple viscose printed with sycamore and tree of heaven.

Seven-eighths in dark taupe, square collar closed with a button. The concealed pocket is the detail Betty is proudest of: invisible from outside, lined in silk within, like a man's jacket. At the back, a centre vent lets it breathe.

The ecoprint coat. Pure merino wool cloth printed by ecoprint — birch, myrobalan, alder, casuarina, oak — and lined in double viscose satin dyed with pomegranate and iron. Egg-shaped cut, with the pocket set into the dart.

Every Pelèr coat exists once only, in the size given on its card. Small alterations are agreed by email or at a fitting in the atelier in Arco: sleeves, hem, buttons, initials embroidered inside. The coat leaves folded in tissue paper, its number written by hand.
